Rishabh Pant Returns To India, Meets Specialist In Mumbai

Rishabh Pant has returned to India and is set to resume his rehabilitation at the Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru. The wicketkeeper-batter, who sustained a fracture in his right foot during the fourth Test against England in Manchester on July 23, recently spent a few days consulting specialists.

Although the full details of his assessment are yet to be revealed, Pant (27), regarded as one of India’s best across formats, is eyeing a comeback during the home series against the West Indies in October. If that timeline proves too soon, the white-ball series against Australia in October-November is considered a more practical return window.

Pant, who flew straight from England, was in Mumbai over the past few days for medical evaluations. His injured foot, still strapped, underwent a progress check, and doctors reportedly advised him on when he could rejoin the CoE for rehabilitation.

Rishabh Pant injured his foot from a Chris Woakes delivery in the Manchester Test, retired hurt on 37, but returned the next day with strapping to score a gritty 54 as vice-captain.

Pant Misses Oval Test, Returns To India After Treatment In England

The injury, however, ruled him out of the fifth and final Test at The Oval, which India went on to win to square the series. After the series ended, Pant remained in England for treatment and is understood to have flown back to India only recently. Throughout his recovery period, he has kept fans updated by sharing progress posts on his social media platforms.

One of his recent posts read: “Just wanna tell you one thing which I understand is it doesn’t matter how much pain you endured in the past, if you get hurt again it pains the same for sure, just the threshold goes up and you know the process to keep pushing yourself.”

“So being positive is massive, motivating yourself works a lot. Keep trusting yourself and keep working in the direction you wanna take your life because what doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger eventually (sic).”

Pant has gone through several major difficulties in his career and personal life, so it is natural that he shared such a serious thought. In 2022, he survived a major car accident, which left him with a serious knee injury and kept him away from cricket for more than a year. Even before his latest injury in Manchester, he had hurt his finger during the third Test at Lord’s, which stopped him from keeping wickets.
