India captain and senior MI batter Rohit Sharma has accused Star Sports, the official Indian Premier League broadcaster, of violating viewers’ privacy.
Sharma chastised the presenter for monitoring a cricket player’s every move on Twitter on Sunday, May 18. Sharma just experienced the IPL 2024 with one of his videos going viral. During a conversation with KKR assistant coach Abhishek Nayar, Rohit discussed his future with the Mumbai Indians.
After that, KKR was compelled to remove the video due to widespread speculation on Rohit’s future with MI and in the IPL.
With his hands folded, Rohit Sharma begged the TV crew not to record his audio from private talks with other players and coaches before the MI’s last IPL group-stage match.
Rohit Sharma slams IPL TV broadcaster:
The lives of cricketers have become so intrusive that cameras are now recording every step and conversation we are having in privacy with our friends and colleagues, at training or on match days.

Prominent cricket player Rohit Sharma vented his frustration on the microblogging site ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) about the official IPL 2024 broadcaster taping and televising his private conversations with friends and coworkers. Rohit continued by saying that even though he asked them not to record his talks during practice or on match days, they were broadcast.
The broadcaster’s actions infuriated Rohit greatly because their act was publicly shown on network channels on several occasions.
“The lives of cricketers have become so intrusive that cameras are now recording every step and conversation we are having in privacy with our friends and colleagues, at training or on match days. Despite asking Star Sports to not record my conversation, it was and was also then played on air, which is a breach of privacy. The need to get exclusive content and focused only on views and engagement will one day break the trust between the fans, cricketers and cricket. Let better sense prevail,” Rohit Sharma responded on social media.
However, several internet users speculated that since Rohit was reportedly dissatisfied with Hardik Pandya’s leadership abilities, this would be the last time he has played for the Men in Blue & Gold. The renowned cricketer might wind up playing for a different team if the rumours about him are true.
