Former cricketer Kapil Dev has raised concerns over Team India skipper Rohit Sharma’s fitness. He wants the veteran batter to work on his fitness and expressed that it’s a shame for a captain to not be fit. Kapil Dev had earlier as well questioned Rohit Sharma’s fitness during one of his interviews.
The World Cup-winning Indian skipper hailed Rohit Sharma as a great player and a great captain. However, he added that the Mumbai cricketer needs to work hard on his fitness. Sharing his thoughts on the fitness standards, Kapil Dev said on the ABP Show,
“It is very important (to be fit). More so for a captain. It’s a shame if you are not fit. Rohit needs to put some hard work on it. He is a great batter but when you talk about his fitness, he looks a bit overweight, at least on TV.”
“Yes, it’s different when you look at someone on TV and then in real life. But from whatever I see, Rohit is a great player and a great captain, but he needs to get fit,” he added.
Kapil Dev further expressed, “Look at Virat, whenever you see him, you say, ‘that’s some fitness!’.”
