Wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik is all praise for Team India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who is in great form in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023. He took the second ten-wicket haul of his career in the second Test against Australia on Sunday, February 19 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The left-arm spinner won the Player of the Match for his performance for the second consecutive time in the series.
Ravindra Jadeja took three wickets in the first, followed by a seven-wicket haul in the second. Dinesh Karthik expressed that the spinner is up there with the likes of Anil Kumble and Ravichandran Ashwin. He added that Jadeja is at the peak of his career as an all-rounder. Speaking to Cricbuzz, Dinesh Karthik said,
“He (Ravindra Jadeja) is really at the peak of his powers. He’s crossed 30, and you get the feeling that he is right now at a very strong point in his life. The way he is batting, you can argue that when India goes abroad, you get the feeling that he is solid against fast bowling as a batter and gives you a lot of confidence.”
“When it comes to India, a ten-wicket haul is not something that’s easy, but he seems to do it with consistency. As a bowler, he is right up there with Anil Kumble and Ravichandran Ashwin,” he added.
Hard to put into context what Ravindra Jadeja must have gone through in last six months: Dinesh Karthik
Ravindra Jadeja was out of action for several months due to a knee injury. He underwent surgery and even missed the 2022 T20 World Cup. Wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Karthik expressed that the Indian all-rounder must have gone through a lot in the last six months. He commended Ravindra Jadeja’s comeback from injury. Dinesh Karthik said,
“It’s very hard to put into context what he [Ravindra Jadeja] must have gone through in the last six months because he was well in line to be a part of the World Cup and was a very important cog in the wheel. Missing it due to a freak injury but then coming back and doing it the Jadeja way completely.”
