It has been a perfect batting display by the Indian side at Manchester. The openers have been so affluent in exhibiting their skills right from the start against Pakistan. A 136 run partnership between Rahul and Rohit ensured that India replicated their performance against Australia. While Rahul was dismissed after a handy 57 runs, Rohit Sharma came out all guns blazing against the bowlers.
He dealt in boundaries to notch up his 24th ODI century. It was also his second one of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup. Not just this record he just surpassed the record of former Indian skipper MS Dhoni for maximum sixes in International cricket by an Indian. While Dhoni was leading the charts with 355 sixes, Rohit passed the mark during the first six of the innings. This is indeed a proud moment for him to achieve this milestone.
It is to be noted that Rohit was promoted as an opener in 2013 edition of ICC Champions Trophy and he has been breaking several records since then. The 136 runs by the openers today is also the first 100+ run partnership by an Indian opening pair against Pakistan in a World Cup match.
Rohit Scored magnificent 140 & the Indian skipper on the other side is stabilizing with a solid. Racing at a run rate more than 6, a score of 320+ is what the Indian side will be looking to post so as to set a huge target for the opposition.
