The Royal Challengers Bangalore has unveiled a new logo after acquiring a franchise in the inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League. They were one of the five groups that won the bidding round for the franchises ahead of the much-awaited tournament.
The franchise on Wednesday, January 25, took to social media to share its new logo. They wrote on Twitter, announcing their team in the Women’s Premier League, “Breaking barriers, making history, and playing bold! The Board of Control for Cricket in India, earlier in the day, shared details of the five teams for the Women’s Premier League. The Royal Challengers Bangalore Sports Pvt. Ltd won the Bangalore franchise for 901 Cr. The other four franchises are, Adani 1289 Cr for Ahmedabad, MI 912 Cr (Mumbai), Capri Global 757 Cr (Lucknow), and JSW 810 Cr (Delhi).
Historic day in cricket: Jay Shah on Women’s Premier League breaking Indian Premier League inaugural edition’s record
The BCCI Secretary Jay Shah congratulated the five groups for winning the franchise bids. He revealed that the total bid is Rs. 4669.99cr, which breaks the record of the inaugural Men’s IPL in 2008. Jay Shah termed it a “historic day” in cricket. He wrote on Twitter,
“Today is a historic day in cricket as the bidding for teams of inaugural #WIPL broke the records of the inaugural Men’s IPL in 2008! Congratulations to the winners as we garnered Rs.4669.99 Cr in total bid.”
“This marks the beginning of a revolution in women’s cricket and paves the way for a transformative journey ahead not only for our women cricketers but for the entire sports fraternity. The #WIPL would bring necessary reforms in women’s cricket and would ensure an all-encompassing ecosystem that benefits each and every stakeholders,” he added.
