Ruturaj Gaikwad Clears The Air After CSK Coach’s IPL 2025 Statement

Ruturaj Gaikwad, the Chennai Super Kings star, has confirmed that he will remain with the team despite being sidelined by an injury. On April 10, CSK head coach Stephen Fleming informed fans that Gaikwad would miss the rest of IPL 2025 due to an elbow injury. Gaikwad had captained CSK in five matches this season, with the team securing just one victory and suffering four losses.

Following his injury, Stephen Fleming announced that MS Dhoni would take over the captaincy for the remainder of the tournament. In response to the update, Gaikwad shared his thoughts in a video posted by CSK on X:

“I am going to be there with the team, really support them. Definitely, I would have loved to take the team out of this situation. Some things are just not controllable and as I said, definitely looking forward to support the team from the dugout and hopefully, we’ll have a great season ahead.”

Gaikwad sustained his elbow injury during the match against Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati on March 30. Despite the injury, he continued to play in the matches against Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals.

Ruturaj Gaikwad Passes Leadership Back to Dhoni, Hopes for Turnaround

Before the start of IPL 2024, MS Dhoni passed on the CSK captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad. However, due to an injury, Gaikwad has now returned the leadership role to Dhoni. Referring to Dhoni as a “young wicketkeeper,” Gaikwad added in the same video:

“Really gutted to be missing the future part of the IPL due to an unfortunate elbow injury but thank you for your support until now. Yes, we have been struggling for a while, but now that a young wicketkeeper leading the team, hopefully things will change.”

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are set to face Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 11, with the match taking place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
