Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Ruturaj Gaikwad photographed MS Dhoni during the team’s photoshoot ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. The new season is set to begin on Saturday, March 22. MS Dhoni is seen sitting on a sofa, posing for the photoshoot with the complete setup.
Meanwhile, Ruturaj Gaikwad is separately capturing Dhoni’s pictures with another camera during the session. Both players are seen wearing the CSK jersey, and the franchise shared the video on its official Instagram handle with the caption:

Towards the end of the video, a few pictures of MS Dhoni from the photoshoot are displayed. CSK will kick off their IPL 2025 campaign against arch-rivals Mumbai Indians on Sunday, March 23, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Last season, they missed out on the playoffs after losing their final league match to Royal Challengers Bengaluru, finishing fifth. However, they remain one of the most successful teams, boasting five IPL titles.
Ruturaj Gaikwad will captain CSK in IPL 2025
Both Ruturaj Gaikwad and MS Dhoni were retained by CSK ahead of IPL 2025. Gaikwad was one of their top retentions at ₹18 crore, while Dhoni was retained under the ‘uncapped player’ category for ₹4 crore.
Gaikwad took over CSK’s captaincy in 2024 after Dhoni stepped down and will continue leading the team in the 2025 season. The 28-year-old has played 66 IPL matches, scoring 2,380 runs at an average of 41.75 and a strike rate of 136.86, including two centuries and 18 fifties.
In IPL 2024, he was in top form, amassing 583 runs in 14 games at an average of 53.00 and a strike rate of 141.16, with one century and four fifties. As CSK chases a record sixth IPL title, Gaikwad will be expected to maintain his stellar form from last season.
