South African pacer Kagiso Rabada opened up on the Virat Kohli dismissal during the Boxing Day Test against India on Tuesday, December 26 at the SuperSport Park in Centurion. He expressed that the ball swung away late, which troubled the Indian batter. Kohli’s dismissal proved to be a huge blow for the visitors.
The incident took place in the thirty-first over of the Indian innings. Kagiso Rabada bowled a brilliant outswinger that angled into Virat Kohli initially but then curved away from him. The right-handed batter committed to the angle, but was deceived as it swung away late. He nicked the ball to the wicket-keeper and had to walk back for a 46-ball 38-run knock.
Reflecting on the dismissal, Kagiso Rabada said, “It swung away late.”
“For some reason, most of the times he played and missed, he covered the channel. With him, you always need to be on. I was glad that I could get that fainty (faint edge),” he added.

This was my day: Kagiso Rabada
Kagiso Rabada led the South African bowling attack from the front on the first day of the Boxing Test against India. He ended the day with a five-wicket haul, disrupting the Indian batting line-up. The pacer first dismissed the Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma, and also took Shreyas Iyer, Ravichandran Ashwin and Shardul Thakur’s wicket. Talking about his performance, the pacer said,
“(Such) days happen in cricket. This was my day. Pretty happy with the way I bowled. India have quite a bit of experience and if anyone told us that it will be 208 for 8, we would have taken that before the game.”
Team India finished the first day with 208 runs on the board, at the loss of eight wickets. KL Rahul is unbeaten on 70 runs, while Mohammed Siraj is yet to open his account. Nandre Burger took a couple of wickets, while Marco Jansen picked up one in the innings.
