Former India head coach Ravi Shastri has stated that his coaching come to an end and now he will be enjoying his game from the outside. After his tenure with the Indian team came to an end, he has been touted to take over as the head coach of various IPL teams, but he has remained away.
Shastri had an impressive stint with the Indian cricket team as he made the team strong enough to compete for top honours and be a challenging unit in the Test arena. India won back-to-back Test series in Australia during the former all-rounder’s time as the coach and also claimed series wins all over the globe. The team also reached the final of the inaugural Test Championship as well.
Ravi Shastri, who is currently serving as the commissioner of the Legends League Cricket, was asked about his interest in coaching a team in the future. Sports Today quoted Shastri as saying:
“Mera coaching ka hisaab khatam ho gaya (My time with coaching has come to an end). Saath saal jitna karna tha, mein kar liya (For seven years, I have done enough).”
“It will be at the grassroots level” – Ravi Shastri on his future
Ravi Shastri went on to say that he will be working at the grassroots level of the game and will provide coaching in that aspect. Apart from that, he is happy to watch the game from the outside and is busy with commentary stints.
“If I’m doing some coaching, it will be at the grassroots level, for which I have a company that is doing it. I will participate in that. Otherwise, my time as a coach has come to an end. Now I will view the game from far away and enjoy it,” said Shastri.
