As Sunrisers Hyderabad suffered their third suffocating defeat in a row, former Indian cricketer and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar took a jibe at SRH’s team selection on Saturday after the match. Hyderabad went down against Mumbai Indians to toil at the bottom of the points table in IPL 2021.
David Warner’s Orange Army is continuing their poor form since their first game. In three fixtures, Sunrisers Hyderabad have not managed to win any of the games. The script has been the same for every game, after a blitzkrieg start, SRH gift their wickets to the oppositions and the match in the end. Yesterday, at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, SRH lost the match against Mumbai Indians by 13 runs.
Asked to chase down a total of 151, captain Warner and his opening partner Jonny Bairstow took the match on the fifth gear. Bairstow smashed 18 in an over and made the target look easy to be chased down. Bairstow amassed 43 of 22 and Warner made 36 from 34 deliveries. The match took the turn after Bairstow got hit-wicket and Warner was run-out. As soon as the middle-order batters were exposed, Sunrisers Hyderabad could not stitch any partnership at all. Only Vijay Shankar stood for 28 runs but it was not easy for him as wickets fell at the other end.
Sunrisers Hyderabad didn’t deserve to win – Sanjay Manjrekar
From standing on a strong base of 67/1 to losing nine wickets for just 60 runs, SRH faded away in the match. After the match, Manjrekar took it to Twitter and said no team “deserves to win” with Abhishek Sharma, Virat Singh, and Abdul Samad in their playing XI. SRH made four changes and all these players stepped in their playing XI with Virat Singh making his debut.
“Sorry to say, but anyone that picks Abhishek Sharma, Virat Singh and Abdul Samad all together in one playing XI do not deserve to win,” Sanjay Manjrekar tweeted.

Earlier in the day, Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and padded up first. Their opener Quinton de Kock’s 40 off 39 and a cameo from Kieron Pollard (35 off 22) helped MI to post a total of 150.
