Social media site Twitter is abuzz after the second T20I between Sri Lanka and India got postponed because Krunal Pandya tested positive. According to reports, the match will be played on July 28, Wednesday, granted the rest of the squad test negative.

Team India beat Sri Lanka by 38 runs in the first T20I on July 25. Preparations were going strong for the second match before the announcement of the terrible news. Indian all-rounder Krunal Pandya returned positive in his mandatory covid test prior to the match.

This forced the officials to postpone the game to Wednesday. It also comes on a condition, however. The rest of the players must test negative in order for the game to take place. Sources also stated that as many as eight individuals were deemed to be in close contact with Krunal.

It also includes England-bound Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav. They’ve been sent into isolation with immediate effect. If the two batsmen test positive, they will not be on the flight to England after the conclusion of the T20I series. Krunal Pandya was part of the first T20I, where he had figures of 1/16 from two overs. His tour might be over after testing positive considering the recovery period lasts over a week at the least.

This isn’t the first covid scare on the tour. Earlier, Sri Lankan batting coach Andy Flower and data analyst GT Niroshan tested positive. They had just returned from England. As a result, the start of the Indian tour was postponed. Once again, covid-19 had a say in the series and Twitter reacted in anger.
