Shafali Verma, the young Indian cricketer has represented India many times across formats and done wonders with the bat. However, today, she has done something no one expected from her with the ball. Shafali has around 12 wickets to her name in the international cricket. Today, playing for Haryana as the captain in the Women’s U-23 Trophy against Karnataka, Shafali bagged a hat-trick while bowling. Shafali’s just 21 years old, and she now has a hat-trick in domestic cricket. The funny part is that she isn’t even a proper bowler.
Shafali Verma’s Hat-Trick is a Shocker
Shafali has added immense value to the team as a captain, and this time, she won’t just score runs, she has also taken wickets. A hat-trick means three wickets in three consecutive balls. She came to bowl in the 44th over of the first innings, and her first wicket came in the form of Saloni P. She got the wicket of Saloni in the fifth ball of her over.
Then, in the last ball of the same over, she got the wicket of Souyma Verma via lbw. Later, in her new over, Shafali got the wicket of Namita D’Souza in the first ball. This took her to a hat-trick, something no one ever expected from her. Shafali finished with the figures of 3/20 with four overs under her name. Karnataka was all out for 217 in the first innings in 49.3 overs.
Shafali not only bowled economically, but also likely reduced the total of Karnataka. She is also coming in with a lot of confidence after playing a brilliant season for the Delhi Capitals in the Women’s Premier League 2025. In fact, Verma was the highest scorer for the franchise during this season.
