Former Aussie all-rounder Shane Watson compared the leadership styles of Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni while talking on the ‘ICC Review’ show. Watson has played under the captaincy of both Virat and MS, in the Indian Premier League.

For Virat’s RCB, Watson played two seasons (2016-17) and represented Chennai Super Kings in three seasons (2018-20) under Dhoni. Shane Watson said that Virat Kohli has accomplished tremendous things as a captain.

He added that Virat is a superhuman and playing for RCB under him was a fantastic experience. The 40-year old stated that Virat also has wide-ranging knowledge about topics other than cricket.

“Virat as a leader has done incredible things, the way he has been able to push players, he has got such high expectation from himself and he brings that to every game he plays. For me, I believe that Virat Kohli is a Superhuman, he knows how to push players around him.”

“Virat is an incredible good guy, he is a well-balanced character off the field, knowledge he has is fascinating. It was a great experience for me to work with Virat at RCB.”, Watson said on the ‘ICC Review’.

Shane Watson said that when it comes to MS Dhoni, the former India captain has a lot of trust in his players and doesn’t rely too much on statistics or extensive strategy talks. Watson also lauded Dhoni for his ability to soak the pressure from the team, in crunch situations.

“MS Dhoni has got ice running through his veins, his ability to take pressure out of a team environment, he trusts his players, he makes sure everyone has faith in their abilities. He knows what works for himself and people around him. He trusts his instincts on the field, he trusts that players will do their research and do what is needed on the field.”, said Watson.
