With the ODI series done and dusted, the focus shift to the three-match T20I series. The first T20I between Sri Lanka and India is all set to take place on July 25 (Sunday) at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.

The Indian team lost the third and final ODI against Sri Lanka but won the series as they had an unassailable lead of 2-0 before the third encounter. Skipper Shikhar Dhawan was the top performer for the team with the bat, scoring 128 runs in three matches at an average of 64. Whereas Yuzvendra Chahal was the highest wicket-taker in the series with five wickets in two matches at an average of 20.40.

India will again bank on these two players for the T20I series. With the ICC T20 World Cup in sight, the likes of Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Suryakumar Yadav, and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar will be looking forward to booking a slot in India’s squad for the marquee tournament.

The Sri Lankan cricket team has been impressive in patches. Opening batsman Avishka Fernando displayed a brilliant performance in the last ODI, where he scored 76 runs in 98 balls helping Sri Lanka to make a comeback in the series. Fernando was also the highest run-scorer with 159 runs in three matches at an average of 53.

Despite the win in the last ODI, there are still concerns that the Sri Lankan team needs to address. They need to put up a collective performance to win the T20I series against India.
