The second-string squad of India is currently in Sri Lanka preparing for a white-ball series against the neighbors. The Indian side has many young talents in the team. Also, selectors have picked as many as 3 openers alongside Shikhar Dhawan in the squad. It will be tough competition between Prithvi Shaw, Devdutt Padikkal, and Ruturaj Gaikwad to open the innings with Shikhar Dhawan.

India has many young talents but everyone will not get the chance to play official matches. Even coach Rahul Dravid has clarified that everybody will not get the chance the playing XI. However, he said that players will definitely learn something from this series that will help them in the future.

Meanwhile, Ajay Jadeja believes the opening pair will completely depend on what management wants for the future.

“These players are the future of the Indian team. Here, it is not the question of captain’s choice, but how the management looks at the tour. It all depends on the guys who run the team. The selectors and Dravid will make the call. It is a tough decision to make between all players, but my choice is Padikkal,” said Jadeja during a media interaction.

Meanwhile, Team India has selected only two wicketkeeper batsmen in the team; Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan. The former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar picked Ishan Kishan as his choice. The reason Sanjay Manjrekar gave behind picking Kishan as an Indian wicketkeeper was his consistency.

“Ishan Kishan is my keep’s choice, purely on basis of batting. Keeping is not that important in limited-overs cricket. There is no match to Smason when he gets going, but what we are looking at is consistency, and Kishan picks himself ahead of Samson on that ground,” Manjrekar said.
