Sourav Ganguly Responds To BCCI’s Frustration Over Ticket Prices At Eden Gardens For The 2023 ODI World Cup

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has voiced its discontent over the ticket price announcement made by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) for the upcoming 2023 ODI World Cup matches at Eden Gardens.

The ICC had recently released the schedule, revealing that Eden Gardens would host five World Cup games, including a match featuring Team India, two matches with Pakistan, and a semi-final clash.

On July 10, CAB disclosed the ticket prices for these matches, sparking the BCCI’s annoyance as they were not consulted prior to the announcement.

The iconic Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata has witnessed numerous historic encounters, such as the 1987 World Cup final between Australia and England, as well as memorable India-Pakistan matches, including the famous 1999 Asian Test Championship.

According to the price list, tickets for the India and semi-final matches start from INR 800 for the upper tier, with the highest price set at INR 3000.

For the Pakistan matches, prices range from INR 800 to INR 2200, and for the Bangladesh game, they vary from INR 650 to INR 1500.

The Telegraph reported the BCCI’s dissatisfaction with CAB’s unilateral decision on ticket prices

Sourav Ganguly, who has held positions in both organizations during his administrative career, responded to the BCCI’s stance, stating that the matter falls under CAB’s jurisdiction, and they will handle it.

Ganguly recently visited Eden Gardens to assess the progress of the stadium’s renovation.

It remains to be seen whether the ticket prices for the 2023 World Cup matches will be revised following the BCCI’s discontent or if they will remain unchanged based on the initial announcement by CAB.

Cricket enthusiasts eagerly anticipate the 2023 World Cup, with just 78 days remaining until the tournament commences at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The announcement of ticket prices by CAB added to the excitement among fans, but the BCCI’s dissatisfaction has raised questions about a potential reconsideration of the pricing.

As the situation unfolds, fans await updates on whether CAB will address the concerns raised by the BCCI and potentially revise the ticket prices for the highly anticipated World Cup matches.
