Sri Lanka Announce Squads; Chamindu Wickramasinghe Earns His Maiden Call-Up

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has made public a 16-man squad for the upcoming three- match T20I series against India, starting on July 27 (Saturday). Charith Asalanka will captain the hosts, having taking after Wanindu Hasaranga who left his position earlier. They will be facing off with a strong Indian side that just claimed the T20 World Cup.

While Asalanka had a less productive tournament, he emerged top scorer despite amassing just 173 runs across 11 games unlike Jaffna Kings who won the title after defeating Galle Marvels 99 runs<hr>.

Sri Lanka emerged victorious over India in their most recent T20I series at home

India last visited Sri Lanka in 2021 for three ODIs and three T20Is. The ODI series was won by the tourists, whereas the T20I rubber was won by the home team.

The T20 series will start in the next three days on three consecutive days – July 27, 28, 30 –these dates at Pallekele. After disappointing performance during T20 World Cup, it is hoped that Sri Lanka will give a better account of herself in this show.
