Just before the fourth test match at Old Trafford, Manchester, England have suffered a massive blow. The all-time leading wicket taker for England in tests, James Anderson has been ruled out of the ongoing Ashes.
Anderson suffered a calf injury in the Ashes opener and since then the following two test matches. Prior to the Ashes, Anderson suffered the same injury when playing for Lancashire and was ruled out of the one-off Ireland Test match.
England Cricket has named a replacement for the injured James Anderson. They have added the Somerset fast bowler, Craig Overton.
Craig Overton has played only 3 tests so far in his career, taking 7 wickets. He had an exceptional county season taking 32 wickets in 8 county championship games.
Overton made his debut in the 2017-18 Ashes in Adelaide. He last played against New Zealand at Auckland in March 2018. Since then he has been out of the English setup.
