Following Chennai Super Kings’ shocking defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders, Kedar Jadhav has received a lot of flak for his below-par performances. Jadhav failed to accelerate in the end as Chennai fell short by 10 runs. Meanwhile, amidst all these, Stephen Fleming has offered his support and revealed why they sent Kedar Jadhav ahead of Dwayne Bravo and Ravindra Jadeja.
Chennai were 90 for one, leading the run chase at the halfway mark with Shane Watson and Ambati Rayudu looking fluent at the crease. But then suffered an incredible slowdown after losing the two of them in back-to-back overs. Kedar Jadhav came out to bat after MS Dhoni’s departure and struggled from the onset.
Kedar Jadhav can play spinners well – Stephen Fleming
He has been struggling in this Dream11 IPL and he managed a 12-ball 7 as CSK choked in their run-chase of 168. Stephen Fleming, speaking at the press conference, offered a rationale why he sent Kedar Jadhav ahead of in-form Dwayne Bravo and Ravindra Jadeja.
“At the time, we thought that Kedar could play the spinner well and dominate, while Jadeja was there to come and finish. But in the end, there was too much work to do and we fell short,” Stephen Fleming said at the press-match conference,” Stephen Fleming told media at the press conference.

“We’ve got so much batting resources. Kedar is a late middle to late batter for India. We could have gone a whole lot of different ways. Today Kedar had some balls but that didn’t work out. You always put players in different areas and that’s just when you have so much batting talent to choose from. It’s one of the things we look at, but it’s all in hindsight.” he added.
Adding further, Stephen Fleming admitted that playing an extra batsman backfired adding that the team should have closed out the game after such a good start. While the fans have rued that absence of Suresh Raina has hurt them a lot but Fleming maintained that they have the depth to take home this kind of games.
