The All-India Senior Selection Committee has picked a 17-member squad for the T20I series against Ireland. Ace all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who recently guided the Gujarat Titans (GT) to IPL 2022 title in their maiden season, has been appointed as the captain.

Hardik, who was named as the vica-captain in the series against South Africa, has been handed the reins of the side. Senior fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be his deputy for the two-match series.

Sanju Samson, who was dropped the South Africa series has returned to the squad, while Suryakumar Yadav, who missed out due to injury concerns, has made a comeback to the squad.

Samson hit 374 runs at 147.24 SR and captained Rajasthan Royals to the finals of the tournament while Tripathi was one of the leading lights in an otherwise forgettable season for the Sunrisers Hyderabad, scoring 413 runs at a strike rate of 158.23.

Rahul Tripathi, who had a superlative campaign in the recently concluded IPL 2022 for SunRisers Hyderabad, has also been included in the squad for the Ireland series.

On the other hand, Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer have not been concerned for selection as they will be busy with the fifth and final Test against England, scheduled to commence on July 1 at Edgbaston.

The Men in Blue will play two T20Is on June 26th and 28th in Dublin. VVS Laxman will serve as the head coach on tour and will be assisted by Shitanshu Kotak (batting coach), Sairaj Bahutule (bowling coach) and Munish Bali (fielding coach).
