Former cricketer Ross Taylor feels New Zealand are favorites at home to win the three-match ODI series against Team India. The first match will take place on Friday, November 25 at Eden Park in Auckland. Taylor expressed that New Zealand have a good record in ODI matches over the years.

Speaking to the Espncricinfo, Ross Taylor stated that New Zealand knows the 50-over format well, and are also well versed with their home conditions. He also pointed out the 2020 ODI series win against India, where they made a comeback after losing the T20Is. Team India had defeated New Zealand 5-0 in the T20Is, however, the Kiwis went on to clinch the ODI series.

“I think New Zealand start as favorites at home. They know this format really well and know how to play in these conditions. But it’s a young and exciting Indian side. When India beat us 5-0 in the T20Is a few years ago, we won the ODIs 3-0. New Zealand’s side pride itself on its One-Day game. This is a big series for them. We are not playing a lot of ODIs at the moment. But we normally do one-day cricket really well,” said Ross Taylor.

Don’t know why Kane Williamson hasn’t used James Neesham as much: Ross Taylor

Former cricketer Ross Taylor further talked about Kane Williamson not using James Neesham effectively in recent matches. He expressed that Neesham has done well for New Zealand in the past, and just hasn’t gotten much chance in the last three to six months. James Neesham bowled just one over against India in the recently concluded T20I series. With the bat, he bagged consecutive ducks in the second and the final match. Ross Taylor said,

“I don’t know why Kane Williamson hasn’t used him as much. He has been someone who has been used a lot in the years gone by. But probably in the last three or six months, he hasn’t been used as much. Whether that’s a confidence thing or just where he thinks.”
