The Indian team won the ODI series in England by 2-1. Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya played a very crucial role in the series decider at Old Trafford in Manchester on Sunday. However, the Indian top order once again surrendered in front of the left-arm pacers. Former cricketer Nasser Hussain expressed his concern about the problems of the Indian top order against left-arm bowlers.

Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli gave their wickets to Reece Topley. Hussain also gave examples of how Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Amir blew away the top order of the Indian team at crucial moments. He advised Indian batsmen to be more attentive against left-arm pacers.

While talking to Sony Sports network, Nasser Hussain said, “They need to play to left-arm (pacers) a little bit better. History tells you that Shaheen Shah Afridi blew them away one evening in Dubai. Amir blew them away that afternoon on June 18, 2017, and Reece Topley has blown them away here.”

He also stated that the Indian top order can’t be timid with the bat like they were in T20 WC 2021 in UAE.

India are a very strong team, but they need to learn from what happened in the past. In the last T20 World Cup in the UAE, they were a bit timid with the bat, so they need to stop being that,” said Naseer Hussain.

“Play ICC tournaments just like bilateral” – Nasser Hussain’s advice to the Indian team

Nasser Hussain feels that the Indian top order should be playing freely because they have Rishabh Pant, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja for the backend of the innings. Hussain also advised the Indian team to play ICC Tournaments like bilateral series.

Former England captain further said that Virat Kohli would be fine after the break. Hussain said, “Their batting, Virat Kohli, will be fine. Once he is out of the break, he will be absolutely fine. They are positioned nicely. They just got to play ICC tournaments just like they play bilateral tournaments.”
