Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has lashed out at social media abuse following RCB’s IPL 2021 exit losing to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Sharjah. Another RCB cricketer Daniel Christian also echoed the same words, whose partner was subjected to vilified comments.

Sunil Narine weaved magic with both bat and the ball to knock out the Challengers in Virat Kohli‘s last match as RCB captain. The Trinidadian dismantled the star-laden top order in removing the golden trio of Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers.

The loss prompted a wave of abuse from upset Bangalore fans which Glenn Maxwell, decried in a series of impassioned social media posts. The Aussie all-rounder wrote:

“Some of the garbage that has been following on social media is absolutely disgusting!” he wrote.

“We are human beings who are giving our best each and every day. Try being a decent person maybe instead of spreading abuse. Thank you to the REAL fans that shared love and appreciation for the players giving their all! Unfortunately there is some horrible people out there that make social media a horrible place to be. It is unacceptable!!! Please don’t be like them,” Glenn Maxwell added.

After Glenn Maxwell, Daniel Christian also slams social media abuse

The veteran all-rounder, who had an off-day in the business, revealed his partner’s Instagram page had been targeted.

“I didn’t have a great game tonight, but that’s sport,” he wrote. “However please leave her out of it,” Daniel Christian added.

Both Daniel Christian and Glenn Maxwell will now join Australia’s T20 World Cup squad. The mega event will run between October 17 to November 14.
