Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi made headlines with a remarkable century against Gujarat Titans (GT) in the IPL 2025 match at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur, on Monday, April 28. After his 101-run performance, a photo from the 2017 season of him supporting the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant (RPSG) went viral on social media.
In the photo, a six-year-old Suryavanshi is seen wearing an RPSG jersey. Dr. Sanjiv Goenka, the owner of the former IPL franchise and current owner of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL 2025, also responded to the viral image on X:
“Last night I watched in awe… this morning I came across this photo of 6-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi cheering for my then team, Rising Pune Supergiant, in 2017. Thanks Vaibhav. Lots of good wishes and support.”

Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored a 35-ball century against GT, the fastest by an Indian and second-fastest in IPL history. At 14, he became the youngest to hit an IPL century and the first RR player to hit 11 sixes in an innings. His knock helped RR chase down 210 runs in just 15.5 overs.
“Long way to go, champ!” – Yusuf Pathan on Suryavanshi breaking his IPL ton record
Vaibhav Suryavanshi shattered Yusuf Pathan’s long-held record for the fastest IPL century by an Indian. Pathan had set the record with a 37-ball ton against Mumbai Indians (MI) in 2010. Yusuf congratulated Suryavanshi on his impressive feat and expressed happiness that an RR player had surpassed his achievement. The former cricketer shared his thoughts on X:
“Many congratulations to young #VaibhavSuryavanshi for breaking my record of the fastest @IPLhundred by an Indian! Even more special to see it happen while playing for @rajasthanroyals, just like I did. There’s truly something magical about this franchise for youngsters. Long way to go, champ!”
