Pakistan has made sure to restrict the Kiwis, who is one of the undefeated sides in the tournament to 237/6. A brilliant effort from their pace attack ensured that Williamson – led side will not be scoring anything in excess of 300. Shaheen Afridi and Amir reduced them to 83/5 in no time. Great and valiant captaincy shown by Sarfaraz.
“There was always going to be partnership”, said Pakistan Head Coach Micky Arthur. It came between Jimmy Neesham and Colin de Grandhomme, a crucial 132 run stand that helped the side to post a competitive total at Edgbaston.
What deserves attention here it the Pakistani fielding throughout the game. Known for dropping a lot of catches in the previous games, the side rectified those errors thus saving a lot of runs today. Sarfaraz”s one-handed catch would be one of the most spoken catches of the tournament. His magnificent dive to dismiss Ross Taylor is trending on the internet.
The catch was taken during the ninth over of the game when Shaheen Afridi”s delivery edged the bat of Taylor. Though the ball was moving towards the first skip, a brilliant dive from Sarfaraz was enough to cause damage.
Sarfaraz was physically abused by one of the fans in a mall last week. He received a lot of support from the cricketing world and fans which made that person to issue an apology. Several fans have started bringing some posters with the words “Sorry Sarfaraz” and this gesture was appreciated by many.
