Team India batter Virat Kohli’s professional association with Bunty Sajdeh, the founder of Cornerstone has come to an end. After a longstanding partnership between the firm and the former Indian skipper, they have decided to part ways. Virat Kohli is likely to float his own management company.
According to a report by News18, Virat Kohli and Cornerstone founder Bunty Sajdeh, have parted ways. The reason for their split is not known at the moment. However, it is learnt that Virat Kohli is in the middle of registering his own management company. The Indian cricketer was associated with Cornerstone for many years.
In 2020, Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions formed a partnership with Cornerstone, naming it Dharma Cornerstone Agency (DCA). However, Virat Kohli’s association with Cornerstone was independent and not affected by the joint venture between Dharma and Cornerstone.
“Yes, Kohli and Bunty have parted ways after a very long and successful partnership. Over the years, there are a lot of other cricketers who’ve parted ways with Cornerstone. Rohit, KL Rahul, Ajinkya, Shubman and others. But Virat and Cornerstone were inseparable. Now, that relationship is over too,” an industry source tells CricketNext.
Cornerstone’s association with Indian cricketers
Bunty Sajdeh managed Virat Kohli’s commercial interests brand value and presence off the field. The duo signed lucrative deals with top companies, including the Rs 100-crore signup with Puma. However, in the process, Cornerstone had to let go of other cricketers like Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Ajinkya Rahane, and Shubman Gill. According to the News18 report, the players felt that the company was merely focused on Virat and not the rest.
Athletes like PV Sindhu, Sania Mirza, Umesh Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, and Yash Dhull are still associated with Cornerstone. Now in partnership with Dharma, they also have Sara Ali Khan, Janhvi Kapoor, and Tiger Shroff on their roster.
