Virat Kohli-Anushka Sharma Starts COVID Relief Work After IPL 2021 Is Suspended

Indian skipper Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma have started working towards COVID relief after the IPL 2021 was suspended by the BCCI. The RCB skipper returned home on May 5 and started working to help provide relief to those affected by Covid-19 in the country. In the process, Kohli has joined the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Pat Cummins amongst others who have contributed towards COVID relief fund in the country.

India skipper urged everyone to join his movement and help people who need support as the country continues to battle the second wave of the coronavirus.

“Anushka and I have started a campaign on @ketto, to raise funds for Covid-19 relief, and we would be grateful for your support. Let’s all come together and help those around us in need of our support. I urge you all to join our movement. We are going through an unprecedented time in the history of our country and our nation needs all of us to unite and save as many people as possible. Anushka and I have been shocked to see the human suffering since last year,” Kohli tweeted saying.

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma Contributes Towards COVID Relief Fund

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma have donated 2 crores towards the relief which will raise a total of seven crores to support India’s fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

The week-long campaign on Ketto will forward the funds raised to ACT Grants, the implementation partner which will work towards providing oxygen, medical manpower, vaccination awareness and telemedicine facilities all through the pandemic and the amount.

Meanwhile, the BCCI said that they are not in any hurry to complete the remainder of IPL 2021. They are working out on the possible venues which will be safe for playing out the remainder of the tournament. The BCCI has selected a few venues but there is no official confirmation as yet on where the remainder of the season will be played.
