Sachin Tendulkar has come ahead and made a contribution to help COVID-19 patients across India. The second wave of the coronavirus pandemic has hit the country extremely hard with a lack of oxygen masks and plasma for patients. The legendary former India cricketer has donated INR Rs. 1 crores for imposing oxygen contractors for hospitals across the country.’

India is deposing an unparalleled surge in COVID-19 infections and reported a single-day rise of 3,79,257 new cases on Wednesday. Now, Tendulkar has come ahead and made and donated funds and urged everyone to show support to people working hard to fight against COVID-19.

“His donation of Rs 1 crore to ‘Mission Oxygen’ in its endeavour to procure and provide life-saving oxygen concentrators to hospitals across the nation in this time of need is incredibly heart-warming,” read a statement from Mission Oxygen, which is a fund-raising initiative by Delhi-NCR based entrepreneurs for introducing Oxygen Concentrator machines and providing them to hospitals in need.

Sachin Tendulkar recently had been tested positive for COVID-19 after he played a cricket tournament with the India legends team. After following all the protocols and completing the isolation period he has recovered from coronavirus.

He took to Twitter and confirmed his donation which motivated his countless fans to contribute during trying times. Tendulkar has also vouched to donate plasma once he is eligible.

“The second wave of COVID has put our health-care system under immense pressure. Providing oxygen for the large number of serious COVID patients is the need of the hour,” Tendulkar wrote on his Twitter handle.

“It is heartening to see how people are rising to the occasion. A group of 250+ young entrepreneurs have launched Mission Oxygen to raise funds for importing oxygen concentrators and donating them to hospitals across the country”.

“I’ve helped by contributing to the cause and hope that their effort soon reaches out to many more hospitals across India. Today, we have to stand together behind everyone that is working hard to fight this pandemic”, his post read. 

Delhi Capitals Also Provides Financial Support

Meanwhile, IPL teams Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals also provided to helping all COVID patients across the country. The Rajasthan Royals made a donation of Rs. 7.5 crores while Delhi Capitals contributed with Rs. 1.5 crores.
