Virat Kohli was dismissed for yet another duck in the Test series against England. Ben Stokes bowled a rising short delivery outside off stump which completely defeated Kohli and he registered his 12th duck in his Test career. The wait for that elusive 71st century continues as now it has been 36 innings since Kohli scored his last international century.

The big question that everyone is asking is whether or not the Indian captain is out of form. Kohli has set extremely high standards with the bat which he hasn’t been able to continue in the last 2 years. Kohli still has amazing numbers in his Test career as he still averages above 52 with 7490 runs and 27 centuries.

However, since 2020, Kohli has scored runs at an average of a mere 26 in Test cricket. The India captain hit a lean patch in the 2 match Test series in New Zealand where he scored less than 50 runs in 4 innings. Post that Kohli has scored the 50s but has unable to reach triple figures which is frustrating every Indian cricket fan.

If we decode his numbers in his Test career it suggests that Kohli in his last 30 Tests has been unstoppable. In his last 30 Tests, he has scored 10 centuries including 3 double centuries and 11 fifties which is far better than the numbers of his first 60 Tests.

The numbers don’t lie and it proves that Kohli is not completely out of form and is just going through a lean patch like any other batsman. As they say, the form is temporary and class is permanent which certainly suits Kohli as one big knock is just around the corner. Virat Kohli in the series against England has scored 1, 72, 0, 62, 27, 0 and will be desiring to end it on high by playing an impactful knock in the 4th innings at Ahmedabad.
