Virat Kohli reached a major milestone during the IPL 2025 final between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, June 3. The 36-year-old surpassed former PBKS captain Shikhar Dhawan (768) to become the player with the most boundaries in IPL history.
Kohli had been tied with Dhawan before the final, creating anticipation. He broke the record in the fourth over of RCB’s innings by confidently flicking a leg-side half-volley from Kyle Jamieson to the boundary at long leg.

Kohli registered eight half-centuries during the season, with his highest score being an unbeaten 89.
Virat Kohli Provides Crucial Support For RCB In IPL 2025 Final Against PBKS
Virat Kohli contributed a steady innings for RCB in the IPL 2025 final against PBKS, scoring 43 off 35 balls with three boundaries. He anchored the innings until the 14.5-over mark before being dismissed by Azmatullah Omarzai through a caught-and-bowled.
At that stage, RCB were 134/4 in 15.2 overs, with Jitesh Sharma and Liam Livingstone at the crease. Kyle Jamieson stood out among the bowlers, claiming two wickets in his first three overs, including Phil Salt (16 off 9) and captain Rajat Patidar (26 off 16).
Both teams are aiming for their first IPL title. This is RCB’s fourth final, having previously lost in 2009, 2011, and 2016. PBKS, on the other hand, are playing their second final, with their only prior appearance coming in 2014, where they were defeated by Kolkata Knight Riders.
