Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar has suffered another injury ahead of India’s tour of Zimbabwe, 2022. He is currently in England for the Royal London One-Day Cup 2022. Sunday is representing Lancashire in the tournament, after playing a couple of matches in the County Championship Division One. However, his injury has made things tricky for the all-rounder.
Lancashire Cricket took to their social media to inform the fans about Washington Sundar’s injury. It happened during the Royal London One-day Cup clash against Worcestershire on Wednesday, August 10. The spinner received treatment from the medical staff on his left shoulder, following a heavy landing during fielding. However, he walked out of the field after some time. No further update about the extent of the injury is known yet.

Earlier this year, Washington Sundar injured his bowling hand during the Indian Premier League 2022 season playing for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. He missed out on a significant amount of matches, following the injury. Last month, he joined Lanchashire after regaining his match fitness. Sundar has performed well for them so far, taking eight wickets and scoring 52 runs in the County Championship. He has also picked three wickets in two One-day matches.
Washington Sundar’s participating in doubt for Zimbabwe tour
Recently, the Board of Control for Cricket in India announced the ODI squad for the tour of Zimbabwe. The Indian team will be playing three ODI matches, starting on August 18. Washington Sundar was named in the squad following a long break from International cricket. However, his shoulder injury may force him to miss the upcoming Zimbabwe series.
Washington Sundar last played an ODI match in India against the West Indies in February. So far, he has played four ODI matches, taking five wickets at an average of 28 and an economy rate of 5. The left-handed batter has also contributed 57 runs in ODIs for India.
