[WATCH]- Axar Patel And Jitesh Sharma Influence DRS As Matt Short Falls For 25 In AUS vs IND 4th T20I

Team India all-rounder Axar Patel and wicket-keeper Jitesh Sharma prompted captain Suryakumar Yadav to review an LBW decision after Australia opener Matt Short was trapped in front during the fifth over of the fourth T20I chase. The on-field umpire overturned his original not-out call, giving India their first breakthrough at Carrara Oval in Gold Coast.

Batting at the top in Travis Head’s absence, Short gave Australia a solid start. He took charge early, hitting three boundaries off Arshdeep Singh in the third over, while Mitchell Marsh struggled to get going. The hosts were 35-0 after four overs, chasing 168, which led Suryakumar Yadav to bring spinners into the attack from both ends.

Axar Patel bowled economically, giving away just two runs in his first four balls. Short tried to attack the spinner with a sweep shot but failed to connect, resulting in his dismissal. Jitesh Sharma suggested that the ball had hit in line with the stumps, a view shared by the bowler. The duo then approached the captain, prompting a last-minute review.

Ball tracking confirmed three reds, making the review successful for India.  You can watch the dismissal video here:

Matt Short was dismissed for 25 runs from 19 balls, hitting two fours and two sixes at a strike rate of 131.58.

Jitesh Sharma Convinces Suryakumar Yadav For Review

The spinner, wicket-keeper, and captain huddled again during Axar Patel’s next over after a caught-behind appeal against Mitchell Marsh. This time, the captain chose not to review, following Jitesh Sharma’s assessment that there was no edge.

However, on the final ball of the over, Jitesh Sharma urged Suryakumar Yadav to review, confident he heard a nick off Josh Inglis’ bat while attempting a cut shot. Yadav agreed, but the ultra-edge showed no spike, and India lost the review.

Axar Patel soon made an impact, bowling Josh Inglis for 12 in the ninth over, reducing Australia to 67-2 in their chase.
