[WATCH] Axar Patel Jokes About KL Rahul’s Broken Bat In IPL 2025 Nets, Calls It A ‘Mongoose Bat’

Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Axar Patel had a funny reaction to KL Rahul’s broken bat during a training session in the lead-up to their IPL 2025 clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Sunday, April 27. While practicing in the nets, Rahul attempted a pull shot, which caused his bat to snap into two pieces.

Picking up the broken bat, Axar jokingly claimed it as his own, showing it off to teammate Tristan Stubbs. With a smile, he referred to it as a “Mongoose bat,” humorously adding that it now consisted of only the handle. He said:

“See my new bat. Yeh mongoose bat mai toh sirf handle hi hai (This mongoose bat has only the handle).”

Delhi Capitals shared a video of the moment on their official X (formerly Twitter) account with the caption:

“It hurts more than a break up but trust Bapu to make it funny 😂.”

KL Rahul’s strong form is a major boost for DC in IPL 2025

KL Rahul has made a strong comeback with the Delhi Capitals this season. After being released by Lucknow Super Giants last year, he has been in excellent form with the bat in IPL 2025. The wicketkeeper-batter has accumulated 323 runs from seven matches, averaging 64.60, with a strike rate of 153.80.

He has also scored three half-centuries and will be confident heading into their next match. In the previous game against his former team, Lucknow, Rahul played a key role in leading Delhi to a comfortable victory, remaining unbeaten with 57 runs off 42 balls, including three boundaries and three sixes.

As DC aims to solidify their top position and secure a second victory over RCB in their upcoming match, they will rely on their experienced batter to maintain his impressive form this season.
