[WATCH]- Ben Stokes Acknowledges Shubman Gill’s Six Off James Anderson

Shubman Gill‘s bold six against James Anderson during the fifth Test of the India-England series. Batsmen usually approach the early part of the day’s play with caution, reminiscent of how Test cricket was traditionally played in the past.

Contemporary cricketers exhibit fearlessness, unhesitant to take risks even against fresh and aggressive opposition bowlers. This was evident on the second day of the fifth Test between India and England in Dharamshala.

In just the fourth over of the day, England’s leading wicket-taker, James Anderson, was charging in with determination. On the second delivery of the over, Shubman Gill confidently advanced down the pitch, skillfully lofting the full-speed delivery of 131 kmph straight down the ground into the crowd.

The shot was so graceful that it impressed commentator Harsha Bhogle, who, on air, humorously questioned what Gill had for breakfast that morning. The camera captured England captain Ben Stokes expressing his amazement and approval with a nod of his head.

The authorized broadcaster posted the footage of the shot on X. You can watch the video here:

Gill proceeded to achieve a score of 110 before Anderson bowled him cleanly after the lunch break.

Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill achieve record-breaking centuries in the fifth Test at Dharamshala

Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill had a standout day in the fifth Test against England, each scoring impressive centuries. He notched his 12th Test century, while Gill secured his fourth. Their partnership of 160 runs has put India in a strong position, leading by 46 runs.

In Dharamsala, Kuldeep Yadav shone with a five-wicket haul on the opening day, supported by Ravi Ashwin, who took four wickets. England, choosing to bat first, saw a promising start from openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett, forming a 64-run partnership.

However, Kuldeep initiated the breakthrough. India took control in the second session, reducing England to 194/8 at Tea, as Kuldeep orchestrated a middle-order collapse, resulting in three wickets lost without adding any runs.
