IND vs ENG: [WATCH]- Rahul Dravid Warmly Hugs Shubman Gill After His Pivotal Knock

Rahul Dravid, Team India’s head coach, expressed joy as Shubman Gill and Dhruv Jurel showcased smart batting skills to successfully navigate a challenging chase, leading India to a five-wicket victory over England in the fourth Test.

Their composed partnership not only secured the win but also sealed the series with one match remaining, after India faced a mid-innings collapse, recovering from 120/5 to reach the target of 192 in Ranchi.

Following the victory, Rahul Dravid was observed warmly embracing Shubman Gill, expressing his gratitude for Gill’s resilient stay at the crease for the team. This poignant moment held additional significance as Gill had faced criticism before the series, with doubts raised about his position in the Test XI.

However, the team kept supporting him as the No. 3 batsman, and Gill showed his appreciation by playing crucially well in the final three Tests of the series. You can watch the video here:

“We were put under pressure”-Shubman Gill after a hard-fought win in the 4th Test against England

After the fourth Test, Shubman Gill mentioned that the batting unit felt pressure due to the middle-order collapse during the chase. He emphasized the importance of patience and focusing on rotating the strike, which ultimately helped them navigate the challenging situation and secure the win. Gill stated:

“We were put under pressure but I think we had a good start by our openers. You have to see the situation and play accordingly sometimes. Their bowlers bowled good lines and protected the boundaries well. On a wicket like this, we have to be patient and take the singles. When they give any lose deliveries, try to pounce on that.”

Regarding his conversation with Dhruv Jurel during their game-changing 72-run partnership, Gill added:

“I told you batted beautifully and just keep the same mindset. The way he came down against the off-spinners was great. I wanted to take LBW out of the equation by stepping out in the second session. It means a world for us. There were some nerves after losing the first test but Rohit Bhai backed us throughout.”

Gill has accumulated 342 runs with an average of 48.86 in the four-match series, securing the second spot in the run-scoring charts, just behind Yashasvi Jaiswal.
