India’s pace ace Jasprit Bumrah delivered a superb five-wicket haul on Day 2 of the third Test against England at Lord’s. He sealed the fifer by clean bowling Jofra Archer, marking his second consecutive five-wicket haul of the series. The breakthrough came in the 110th over of England’s innings, which was Bumrah’s 27th over, when he bowled a short-of-a-length delivery outside the off stump.

The ball deviated slightly after pitching, stayed a bit low, and sneaked through Archer’s defence before he could get his bat down in time.

With this effort, Bumrah earned a spot on the prestigious Lord’s honours board. He had earlier taken a five-for in the first Test at Headingley as well. You can watch the video here:

Though the Ahmedabad-born pacer kept things tight on Day 1, he had to wait until his 16th over to claim his first wicket. He clean bowled Harry Brook with a delivery that nipped back in and crashed into the stumps.

Bumrah Strikes Thrice in Morning, England’s Lower Order Stays Strong

Jasprit Bumrah gave India a strong start on Day 2 at Lord’s by removing Ben Stokes for 44 in just his second over of the day. Although Joe Root reached his 37th Test century, Bumrah soon dismissed him for 104 and then removed Chris Woakes with the very next ball for a golden duck.

With England at 271/7, India would have hoped to restrict them to around 300 or 320. However, Jamie Smith and Brydon Carse guided the hosts to 353/7 by lunch. Smith, who was dropped by KL Rahul at slip when on 5, went on to score 51 and built an 84-run partnership with Carse.

Carse also brought up his maiden Test half- century before being bowled by Mohammed Siraj for 56, as England were eventually all out for 387. At the time of writing, India had lost Yashasvi Jaiswal early in their innings, dismissed by Jofra Archer for 13.
