India’s lead pacer Jasprit Bumrah picked up his first wicket of the innings by clean bowling England’s Harry Brook on Day 1 of the third Test in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, currently being played at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. The breakthrough came on the fifth ball of the 55th over during England’s first innings.

Bumrah delivered a length ball that jagged back in with the angle. Brook, uncertain in his footwork, went for a tentative push but missed the ball, which slipped through the gap and struck the top of off-stump. You can watch the video here:

The right-hander was sent back after scoring 11 runs from 20 balls, hitting two boundaries during his stay. His dismissal left England at 172/4 in 54.5 overs.

Jadeja and Bumrah strike back-to-back in third session for India

England captain Ben Stokes opted to bat first after winning the toss in the third Test at Lord’s. India’s opening bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep, maintained tight lines early on but couldn’t make an immediate impact. It was all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy who provided the initial breakthrough in the 14th over, removing both openers — Ben Duckett for 23 and Zak Crawley for 18.

Joe Root and Ollie Pope then steadied the innings, taking England to 83/2 at the lunch break after 25 overs on Day 1. The second session was marked by disciplined bowling from the Indian attack, which kept the run flow in check. Though England didn’t lose a wicket during the session, they could only add 70 runs in 24 overs, reaching 153/2 at tea, with Root on 54 and Pope on 44.

The momentum shifted immediately after the interval, with Ravindra Jadeja striking on the very first ball to remove Pope for 44. Soon after, Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Harry Brook for 11. At the latest update, England were 185/4 after 58 overs, with Joe Root unbeaten on 65 and Ben Stokes on 10 at the crease.
