The Punjab Kings registered a great win against the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Brabourne Stadium in Match 60 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season. During the course of the match, the play was interrupted for a few seconds by a cat.

The incident took place during the first over of Royal Challengers Bangalore’s chase.  Skipper Faf Du Plessis and Virat Kohli opened the innings for the Royals, while Harpreet Brar took the new ball to bowl the first over. Du Plessis smashed a boundary behind square off the third delivery of the over.

On the next delivery, Faf Du Plessis spotted a black cat sitting on the side screen. He asked the on-field umpires to stop the match to avoid distraction. The stoppage lasted only a few seconds and the match was resumed soon after the cat walked away from the side screen. The incident was caught on camera. It also sparked a meme fest on social media.

Royal Challengers Bangalore lose by 54 runs against Punjab Kings

The Royal Challengers Bangalore suffered their sixth loss of the Indian Premier League 2022 season. They failed to chase down 210 runs against the Punjab Kings on Friday at the Brabourne Stadium.

Glenn Maxwell was the highest run-scorer in the innings for the Royal Challengers Bangalore with 35 runs. On the other hand, Kagiso Rabada was the pick of the bowlers for the Kings with bowling figures of 3/21.

Earlier in the match, Jonny Bairstow slammed 66 runs off just 29 balls, including four boundaries and seven sixes. He gave the Punjab Kings a fantastic start. Liam Livingstone continued the carnage, batting lower down the order. He scored 70 runs off 42 balls, including five boundaries and four sixes.

Reflecting on the match, Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Faf Du Plessis said, “It was a good score, obviously Jonny the way he started put our bowlers under really pressure. I thought we pulled it back a bit. 200 was about par on that wicket, was a brilliant wicket. When you’re chasing scores like that, you can’t afford to lose wickets in clusters and unfortunately, that’s what happened to us.”
