Punjab Kings (PBKS) co-owner Preity Zinta and enthusiastic supporter RJ Mahvash were overjoyed when Yuzvendra Chahal claimed the important wicket of Suryakumar Yadav. This happened during the IPL 2025 Qualifier 2 match against Mumbai Indians (MI) on Sunday, June 1, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Suryakumar played a dazzling innings, scoring 44 runs off 26 balls, including three sixes and four boundaries, before being caught at deep mid-wicket. Chahal’s wicket ended the 72-run partnership for the third wicket between Yadav and Tilak Varma, leaving MI at 142 for 3.

The dismissal occurred in the 14th over of MI’s innings when Chahal delivered a ball between middle and leg stump. Yadav attempted a slog sweep while kneeling but failed to make proper contact, allowing Nehal Wadhera to take a straightforward catch in the deep.

After the wicket, Preity Zinta and RJ Mahvash appeared thrilled, celebrating enthusiastically from the stands. They have been present at nearly every match this season. You can watch the video here:

PBKS Rally Behind Chahal and Jamieson as MI Set a 200+ Challenge in Qualifier 2

Yuzvendra Chahal and Kyle Jamieson dismissed Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma for identical scores of 44 in back-to-back overs on Sunday, helping Punjab Kings fight back against Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2025 Qualifier 2. However, the five-time champions managed to post a competitive total of 203/6 in the playoff clash.

Earlier, Jonny Bairstow once again played a steady innings, scoring 38 runs off 24 balls, including two sixes and three boundaries. Naman Dhir then contributed a quick 37 runs off 18 balls, hitting seven boundaries. Mumbai skipper Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma struggled to make an impact, scoring 15 (13) and 8 (7) respectively.

For PBKS, Azmatullah Omarzai took two wickets, while Chahal, Jamieson, and Vijaykumar Vyshak claimed one wicket each. The winner of this match will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL 2025 final on June 3 at the same venue.

RCB, led by Rajat Patidar, defeated PBKS by eight wickets in Qualifier 1, while Mumbai advanced by beating Gujarat Titans by 20 runs in the Eliminator.
