After the game, Delhi Capitals’ stand-in captain Faf du Plessis grabbed the internet’s attention with a witty reply to a fan’s tweet suggesting he should star in a film alongside Preity Zinta. The two stars, each prominent in their own field, were seen together after Saturday’s match, sparking excitement among fans.

Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals ended their campaign on a high note with a six-wicket victory on Saturday, dealing a significant setback to Punjab Kings in the battle for a top-two playoff spot. Although Punjab, already secured a playoff berth, posted a competitive 206-8, Sameer Rizvi’s explosive unbeaten 58 off 25 balls—his first-ever IPL half-century—guided Delhi to a successful chase of 208-4.

After the match, Du Plessis gave an honest view of how the team performed.
“Ending on a positive note is important. Finishing fifth fairly shows how our season went, but we need to be more consistent if we want to make the top four,” he said.
Delhi Capitals (DC) started the season strongly with four wins but lost momentum halfway through and found it hard to perform well in crucial games.
“It’s one of the big mysteries — a mix of confidence, lack of form, and missing the basics,” Du Plessis explained.
The experienced South African pointed out that in a close competition like the IPL, small details often decide the outcome.
“When you’re playing well, small things go your way. But there were several crucial moments in both batting and bowling where we let the game slip,” he added.
