Gujarat Titans (GT) opener Sai Sudharsan recently celebrated his selection to the Indian Test team by cutting a cake with his IPL teammates. He earned a spot in the squad for the upcoming England tour after retirements by Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli created openings in the batting lineup.
Sai has been delivering consistent performances over the past few years, representing Tamil Nadu in domestic cricket and GT in the IPL. His strong showings eventually secured him a place in India’s Test squad. His GT opening partner, Shubman Gill, also received great news as he was named the new Test team captain.
Additionally, Sai’s GT teammates Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and Washington Sundar were included in the squad for the five-match Test series against England. The Gujarat franchise shared photos on their official Instagram account, giving fans a peek at Sai’s celebrations in the team camp.

Robin Uthappa backs Sai Sudharsan as Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Test opening partner
Former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa, speaking on his YouTube channel, supported Sai Sudharsan as the ideal replacement for Rohit Sharma in the opening spot for the upcoming Test series in England. Rohit had been opening alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal in Tests for the past few years.
While KL Rahul performed well in this role during Sharma’s absence in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, Uthappa chose the less experienced Sudharsan for the important opening position, especially given the challenging English conditions.
