The Indian team won the ODI series earlier this month, however lost the T20I series 2-1 against Sri Lanka. On Friday, the Indian players returned back home to India after the conclusion of the limited-overs series tour.
Several players shared pictures and memories from the tour on their social handles. India’s pacer Deepak Chahar posted a reel on his Instagram account on the arrival of the Indian team back home.
Alongside Deepak, the reel featured India’s captain for the tour Shikhar Dhawan, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, and Simarjeet Singh. The cricketers were seen not wearing the masks.
Deepak Chahar captioned the reel as “Walk back home”.

Deepak Chahar played a match-winning knock in the second ODI against Sri Lanka. Chasing 276 runs, India was reeling at 160 with six wickets down. Deepak Chahar batted with great composure and grit to score 82-ball 69 runs knock to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. He also bagged two wickets in the match. He was the Player of the Match for his all-around performance.
“Only one thing that was going on in my mind: this is the kind of innings I’ve been dreaming of. No better way to win the match for the country,” said Deepak Chahar at the post-match ceremony.
Krunal Pandya, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Krishnappa Gowtham stay in Isolation in Sri Lanka
Three Indian cricketers – Krunal Pandya, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Krishnappa Gowtham who had tested positive for the covid-19 virus have stayed back in Sri Lanka and are in isolation. Krunal Pandya complained about throat pain on Tuesday, just hours before the second T20I. A Rapid Antigen test was conducted, in which his results returned positive.

On Friday, Yuzvendra Chahal and Krishnappa Gowtham also tested positive for the dreaded virus, as per reports. They were already in isolation as they were identified as close contacts of Krunal. The three players – Krunal, Chahal, and Gowtham will return home only after completing ten days in isolation and then testing negative for the virus, as per the guidelines of the Sri Lankan government.
Meanwhile, Indian opener Prithvi Shaw and middle-order batsman Suryakumar Yadav will leave for England soon from Sri Lanka. They will have to produce three covid negative reports before boarding the flight.
