Pakistan batter Fakhar Zaman walked off after nicking one to the wicketkeeper during Pakistan’s Asia Cup game against India on Sunday, August 28 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Batting first, the Men in Green managed only 147 runs in their 20 overs.

Pakistan were put in to bat first by India skipper Rohit Sharma and new ball bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar had given India an early breakthrough with the wicket of Babar Azam. Pakistan were struggling to go big in the first six overs when Avesh Khan came in to bowl the last over of the powerplay.

Mohammad Rizwan, who was on nine off 17 balls at that point, took the pacer on for a six and a four off successive deliveries, but the momentum shifted again in the over when Zaman edged one to the wicketkeeper off the penultimate ball.

While there was little to no appeal from the Indians, Fakhar Zaman started walking off, prompting the umpire to raise his fingers. He was dismissed for 10 off 6 deliveries. The off-field camaraderie between India and Pakistan players translated onto the field with the sporting gesture from Zaman.

The turn of events left everyone on the field stunned with wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik and bowler Avesh Khan surprised. Paklstan captain Babar Azam was also in shock as things unfolded in Dubai.

Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar starred with the ball for India

Placed at 42/2 in 5.5 overs, Pakistan were poised beautifully in the game. But India bounced back with a few wickets at quick succession. Hardik Pandya was exceptional with the ball once again, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar chipped with a few wickets in a cluster.

Riding on Hardik and Bhuvneshwar, India reduced Pakistan to 128/9 but contributions from Haris Rauf and Shahnawaz Dahani propelled Babar Azam and Co. to 147.
