Team India is all set to kick off their Asia Cup 2022 campaign by taking on Pakistan on Sunday, August 28 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The India-Pakistan rivalry is expected to be fierce. However, the bond between the players of both teams is always appreciated by the fans. Ahead of their opening clash, skippers Rohit Sharma and Babar Azam interacted with each other during the practice session.

The Pakistan Cricket Board shared a video on their social media profiles featuring their skipper Babar Azam and Rohit Sharma. The duo was seen sharing a few words and smiles on the eve of their match. Earlier, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, Yuzvendra Chahal, and other cricketers also met the Pakistan players.

Head-to-head India vs Pakistan at Asia Cup

Team India has been a dominant force in the Asia Cup tournament since its inaugural season. They have won seven Asia Cup titles so far in fourteen editions. Heading into the 2022 edition, India is the defending champion, as they defeated Bangladesh in the 2018 finals. The Rohit Sharma-led team will be keen to continue their blazing run in the tournament.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has won the Asia Cup a couple of times. They won it in 2000 and in 2012 in Bangladesh. They are coming on the back of a clean-sweep against Ireland in a three-match ODI series and will be riding high on confidence. Talking about the India vs Pakistan rivalry at the Asia Cup, India holds the upper hand.

India and Pakistan have locked horns 14 times in the Asia Cup, with India emerging as winners on eight occasions, while Pakistan won five matches. The last time the two teams played against each other in the Asia Cup was in 2018. India won that match comfortably by nine wickets chasing 238 runs in 50 overs.
