England pacer Jofra Archer was taken aback when Akash Deep launched him for a massive six on Day 3 of the third Test against India at Lord’s on Saturday, July 12. The moment unfolded in the 116th over of India’s first innings. Archer delivered a wayward ball on the pads, which Akash timed brilliantly, flicking it over deep backward square leg for a maximum.

Akash Deep, primarily recognized for his bowling skills, played a starring role in the second Test against England at Edgbaston. The 28-year-old delivered a match-winning performance, claiming 10 wickets, including a six-wicket haul. His efforts helped India secure a dominant 336-run victory, leveling the series 1-1.
India Halt England’s Push For A Strong Lead
India put on a composed batting performance to prevent England from gaining a significant lead on Day 3 of the third Test. KL Rahul led the charge with a well-crafted century, scoring 100 off 177 balls with 13 fours. He was ably supported by Rishabh Pant, who struck a fluent 74 off 112 deliveries, hitting eight boundaries and two sixes.
The pair stitched together a crucial 141-run stand, rescuing India from a precarious 107/3. The partnership was broken just before lunch when England skipper Ben Stokes ran out Pant with a direct hit. Later, Ravindra Jadeja contributed a solid 72 off 131 balls, while debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy impressed with a gritty 30 off 91 deliveries.
At the latest update, India were 387/8, with Washington Sundar unbeaten on 23 (74) and Jasprit Bumrah yet to score. Among the bowlers, Ben Stokes and Chris Woakes stood out with two wickets each. Earlier, England had posted 387 in their first innings, anchored by Joe Root’s 104 off 199 balls — his 37th Test century.
For India, Jasprit Bumrah was the standout performer with the ball, claiming his 13th five-wicket haul in overseas Tests — the most by any Indian pacer in Test history.
