India pacer Arshdeep Singh took a playful dig at teammate Mohammed Siraj following Day 3 of the second Test against England. Siraj had played a crucial role in swinging the momentum back in India’s favour after a massive 300-run partnership between Harry Brook and Jamie Smith.
Delivering a standout performance, Siraj claimed six wickets in the innings, marking his fourth five-wicket haul in Test cricket. After the day’s play, Siraj was being interviewed by the BCCI when Arshdeep Singh humorously interrupted the conversation.
Referring to Siraj’s popular line “I only believe in Jassi bhai,” Arshdeep quipped that it was time to update the statement. He jumped in at the beginning of the interview and joked, “Brother, there’s a dialogue change now. I believe in myself and Jassi bhai.”
Akash Deep Shines With Four Wickets, Falls Just Short Of Maiden Test Five-Fer
During India’s first bowling innings, Mohammed Siraj received strong support from Akash Deep, who delivered an impressive performance throughout. Akash claimed four wickets and narrowly missed out on what would have been his maiden five-wicket haul.
Siraj later shared that he genuinely wanted Akash Deep to achieve the milestone and was even willing to bowl a few easy deliveries to increase the pacer’s chances of getting his fifth wicket.
“Akash Deep was waiting for his opportunity, and he showed his hunger today. I really enjoyed bowling with him. And I enjoy responsibility and it is good that I did well today,” Siraj said.
“I would have loved if Akash Deep would have taken a five-wicket haul today. Your first 5-wicket haul is special. I told him that I would bowl 4 balls away from the stump to give him the best chance at taking 5, but he said no,” concluded the fast bowler.
India will resume Day 3 with a 244-run lead, with KL Rahul and Karun Nair at the crease. The duo will aim to navigate the morning session safely and build on the advantage.
