[WATCH]- Ishan Kishan Departs After Mix-Up With Abhishek Sharma In 1st T20I

Ishan Kishan was dismissed cheaply after a major mix-up with opener Abhishek Sharma in the first T20I against England at Riverside Ground on July 1. Indian skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and opted to bat first. However, the Men in Blue suffered an early blow after Saqib Mahmood dismissed Sanju Samson in the second over.

The wicket brought Kishan to the crease, but he failed to make an impact and departed off the final ball of the over. Kishan set off for a single after pushing the ball towards mid-on. He was already halfway down the pitch, but Abhishek showed no interest and sent him back.

The left-hander had fully committed to the run and put in a big dive to make his ground, but a sharp effort from Jos Buttler caught Kishan short of his crease. The Sunrisers Hyderabad star looked visibly frustrated after the dismissal and was seen expressing his anger while walking back to the dressing room.

Notably, this was the second successive match in which Ishan Kishan was dismissed via a run-out. Watch the video here:

Despite losing two wickets inside the second over, Abhishek Sharma came out all guns blazing and brought up his fifty in just 20 balls. He and Shreyas Iyer have batted well so far and will aim to guide India to a formidable total for the hosts to chase.

Ishan Kishan Becomes Worldโ€™s No. 1 T20I Batter

Ishan Kishan overtook teammate Abhishek Sharma to claim the No. 1 spot in the world rankings earlier today. Sharmaโ€™s stint at the top came to an end after nearly 12 years. Kishan earned the rise thanks to his consistent performances in the ICC Menโ€™s T20 World Cup earlier this year, where he amassed 317 runs at a strike rate close to 200.

Ishan Kishan entered an elite club featuring Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav, becoming only the fourth Indian male cricketer to reach the No. 1 position in the T20I batter rankings.
