The 2022 T20 World Cup has already witnessed some stunning efforts from the players so far. The first day of the Super 12 stage also put up a brilliant show in Sydney and Perth. First, Glenn Phillips took an outstanding catch against Australia, followed by Liam Livingstone’s brilliant catch in the second game. Jos Buttler topped it with a flying catch to make it a day of stunners.

The England skipper won the toss at the Perth Stadium against Afghanistan on Saturday, October 22, and opted to bowl first. His bowlers put up a string performance, bowling the opposition out for a mere 112 runs. Afghanistan skipper Mohammad Nabi too could not put an end to their miseries.

Nabi fell to Mark Wood in the sixteenth over of the innings for just three runs, due to Buttler’s stunning effort. Wood bowled a short delivery, cramping Nabi for room. The Afghanistan batter tried to take the play down the leg side but ended up loving the ball. Buttler put in a full stretched dive to complete the one-handed screamer.

After Mohammad Nabi’s dismissal, Afghanistan got bowled quickly. Sam Curran ended the innings with a fifer from 3.4 overs, conceding just 10 runs at an economy rate of 2.7. Meanwhile, Ben Stokes and Mark Wood also took a couple of wickets. England needs 113 runs in 20 overs to get off the mark at the 2022 T20 World Cup.

Really good performance from the guy: Sam Curran

Sam Curran, England’s star player of the day with the ball, lauded the team’s effort to bowl Afghanistan out for a paltry 112 runs. He expressed that the team used the ground dimensions well for their cause, which resulted in wickets. Speaking at the mid-innings break, Sam Curran said, as quoted by Cricbuzz,

“At the start of the game, I didn’t expect to walk off like that. Really good performance from the guys. After winning the toss, we knew that we had plans. Big square boundaries, we used the dimensions really well. We’re really happy with the score.”
