[WATCH]- KL Rahul Meets LSG Owner Sanjiv Goenka Before The IPL 2025 Retention Announcement

The owner of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) Sanjiv Goenka met his franchise’s captain KL Rahul before the IPL 2025 retention announcement. Goenka and Rahul had their meeting at the former’s office on Judges Court Road in Kolkata.

As reported by Cricbuzz, details surrounding this meeting remain unknown but parties involved might have discussed what lies ahead for captaining Lucknow Super Giants. It has been said that BCCI will conduct a mega auction for IPL 2025. Therefore, Rahul can meet Goenka about next season’s path.

There is some uncertainty regarding Rahul’s future with Lucknow Super Giants with reports suggesting the keeper-batter could go back to zero just like the previous three times in his career at Royal Challengers Bangalore. However, currently, nothing is official and this is an LSG’s first decision-making situation.

When he joined Lucknow Super Giants in 2022, Rahul expressed his excitement about being part of the new team as its inaugural captain. In fact, he also disclosed his thirst for learning by joining the Lucknow-based franchise.

Sanjiv Goenka engaged in a lively conversation with KL Rahul on the field during IPL 2024

The Lucknow Super Giants were unable to reach the playoffs for the first time ever during the IPL 2024 season. A key factor in their inability to get through to the next round was a big defeat by SunRisers Hyderabad against them. After SRH chased down a 166-run target inside 10 overs at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Lucknow team owner Sanjiv Goenka lost his cool.

Goenka stalked towards LSG’s dressing area where he had an animated discussion with KL Rahul appearing enraged about how badly they were doing as a team. It looked like LSG and Rahul might part ways before the mega auction but their last meeting has added some spice into this relationship again.
